Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The First Lady of Sierra Leone and President of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, delivered a keynote address at the First Partners Global Academy, held at the Ford Foundation in New York City.
The event was held on Wednesday, 9th July, 2025. The Academy is notably dedicated to enhancing the leadership and collaboration of First Partners globally.
In her speech, Dr. Bio asserted the significance of cross-continental collaboration among First Partners, noting that many face similar challenges.
“First Partners across regions often grapple with similar challenges, from maternal and child health, to gender-based violence, education, and economic inequality,” she stated.
Fatima Bio further emphasized that those shared issues require “unified action and collective solutions.”
She reiterated her commitment to improving the lives of women and children throughout Africa. She outlined her approach, which focuses on establishing strategic partnerships, developing evidence-informed policies, and promoting a vision for inclusive, people-centered development.
“As always, I remain deeply committed to improving the lives of women and children across Africa,” she remarked.
