Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Minister of Health, Dr. Austin Demby, has officially launched a digital regulatory platform aimed at transforming the Sierra Leone Nursing and Midwifery Council (SLNMC) from a paper-based to an electronic records management system.
The launch took place on Monday, July 14th, 2025, serving as a crucial milestone for nurses and midwives across the country.
The new platform, inspired by Minister Demby, is designed to modernize the processes of registration, licensing, and renewal of nursing certificates and other relevant documentation.
The initiative is expected to enhance the speed and efficiency of those processes, thereby improving accountability and effective data management for healthcare professionals.
The project was led by the Ministry of Health and developed by The Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI), with funding support from UNFPA Sierra Leone.
