Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Leone Stars will kick off their Group B campaign against Senegal in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. Sierra Leone has been drawn alongside Senegal, Mauritania, and Guinea for the WAFU-A Zonal Tournament, which serves as the qualifying competition for the 2025 AFCON U-17 finals.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from October 3 to 18, 2025, with matches held at Stade Mamadou Konaté and Stade Ouezzin Coulibaly in Bamako, as well as Stade Mamadou Diarra H in Koulikoro.
In preparation for this important competition, Sierra Leone’s U-17 team has played several fixtures earlier in 2025. They drew 0–0 with Central African Republic U-17 on January 11 and secured a 2–0 victory on January 18.
Additionally, they faced Guinea U-17 in March, drawing 2–2 on March 8 before narrowly losing 2–1 on March 15.
These matches have helped the team gear up for their Group B battles in Bamako, with the goal of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations U-17 finals.
