Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. ChildFund Sierra Leone wishes to inform the general public and all stakeholders about a fraudulent Breastfeeding Workshop that falsely uses the organization’s name to scam members of the public.
According to reports, over 200 people have been misled, with some asked to pay registration or participation fees under the pretense of attending the said Breastfeeding Workshop organized by ChildFund.
ChildFund is publicly informing the general public that the organization has never discussed organizing any breastfeeding workshop neither has the organization authorized any individual, group or third- party Agency to collect funds or recruit participants on their behalf.
“We categorically state that ChildFund is not organizing any such workshop and has not authorized any individual, group, or third- party Agency to collect funds or recruit participants on our behalf.” Said ChildFund.
In addition, ChildFund does not request participation and or recruitment fees for involvement in its activities or recruitment.
“This act constitutes a clear instance of impersonation and fraud, and we are deeply concerned about the emotional and financial impact it may have had on the victims.” said ChildFund. “We are taking immediate steps to report the matter to the police and other law enforcement agencies for investigation.”
However, ChildFund is urging the general public to discard and treat the said workshop and message as Fraud. ChildFund is know to be a reputable organization that has been operating in Sierra Leone since 1985, assisting children who live in poverty to have the capacity to improve their lives and the opportunity to become young adults, parents, and leaders who bring lasting and positive change in their communities.
The organization is also encouraging the general public to verify all information bearing the organization’s name through their official communication channels.
