Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The SLFA Transition Committee, led by Babadi Kamara, held a high-level meeting with officials from the Ministry of Sports on Tuesday, 12 August 2025.
The meeting took place at the SLFA Secretariat in Freetown and focused on ongoing efforts to improve football administration in the country.
The Minister of Sports, Augusta James Teima, acknowledged the committee’s efforts toward accountability but emphasized that the government expects full transparency from the Executive Committee going forward. She made it clear that continued support from the Ministry will depend on proper reporting and compliance with the regulations set by the National Sports Authority. She also called on the committee to submit regular post-match reports and ensure full registration with the National Sports Authority.
Director of Sports, Haroun Mustapha Korjie, spoke during the meeting as well. He highlighted the fact that the SLFA cannot operate effectively without close cooperation with the Ministry of Sports. He pointed out the need to improve the structure of Division 2 football, which is essential for developing talent and feeding higher divisions in the country’s football system.
Leading the SLFA Transition Committee, chairman Dr Isaac Massaquoi was accompanied by Governance Lead Sirajin Rollings Kamara and Legal Lead Isha Bawoh. Other members present included Human Resource Lead Aruna Mans-Davies and Finance Lead George Moore.
The Human Resource Lead is actively working on issues related to staff attendance and other operational challenges within the committee. Meanwhile, the Finance Lead is reviewing financial statements and expenditure reports connected to the committee’s activities.
This meeting is part of ongoing engagements between the Ministry of Sports and the SLFA Transition Committee as part of the continuing reform process in the administration of football in Sierra Leone.
