Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. In a powerful show of patriotism and community spirit, the Old Boys of St. Edward’s Secondary School, Class of 1992-1993, have stepped up to support Sierra Leone’s fight against Mpox with a major medical supplies donation.
On Friday, September 12, 2025, the National Medical Supplies Agency (NMSA) received a generous shipment from the Directorate of Pharmaceutical Services (DPS), representing a united effort by the alumni and their diaspora members.
The donation includes:
35 cartons of gloves
28 cartons of gowns
28 cartons of masks
3 cartons of face shields
4 cartons of probe covers
These essential items will play a crucial role in containing and preventing the spread of Mpox across the country.
Paul Tim, spokesperson for the alumni group, highlighted their commitment: “This donation reflects our dedication to supporting Sierra Leone’s health initiatives. We pooled resources from both locally and abroad—valued at millions of dollars—to make this happen. Our support will continue as part of our contribution to nation-building.”
Officials at NMSA warmly received the supplies. Yusuf Marah, representing the Chief Pharmacist, expressed gratitude and emphasized the impact: “This donation will boost our ability to deliver vital health services and protect our communities from Mpox.”
Jatu Abdulai, NMSA’s Managing Director, praised the alumni for their unwavering support: “We commend the Old Boys of St. Edward’s for their dedication to improving health outcomes. Rest assured, the supplies will be distributed effectively and monitored through our innovative Msupply system to ensure transparency and proper use.”
