Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Metro Transport Company (SL) Limited, which operates the Waka Fine bus service, made a profit of NLe3.8 million in its first year of operation, according to financial statements presented at its inaugural Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday, October 10, 2025.
The AGM, held at the company’s offices within the SLRTC campus in Kissy, brought together shareholders, Board members, and stakeholders to evaluate the company’s financial and operational performance since its creation.
The meeting covered the presentation of audited financial reports, the election of new directors, and discussions on future plans and problems for the public transportation service.
Board Chairman Kobi Walker lauded the inaugural profit as a strong indicator of future development potential, but warned against complacency, given the impact of rising operating costs on long-term profitability.
The company was able to record NLe3.8 million as profit, but we must be mindful about that,” he told journalists during the meeting.
Conversations also included the company’s operational challenges, plans for strategic investments, and recommendations to improve service delivery and sustainability.
