Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. A high-level delegation from the Republic of Sierra Leone has arrived in Moscow, Russian Federation, to participate in the Russia Energy Week International Forum 2025.
The delegation is led by Hon. Mathew Sahr Nyuma, Leader of Government Business in the Sierra Leone Parliament, and Mr. Umaru Napoleon Koroma, Deputy Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources.
The ten-member team includes Mr. Foday Bangali Lahai Mansaray, Director General of the Petroleum Directorate; Mr. Zanu Deen Karim, Director of Finance at the Petroleum Directorate; Mr. Alusine Timbo, Deputy Director of Mines at the National Minerals Agency (NMA); Dr. John Cooper
Director of Policy and Research at the Ministry of Mines, along with other senior officials from the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources and the NMA.
This visit forms part of the Government of Sierra Leone’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international partnerships and attract strategic investments in the country’s expanding energy and extractive sectors.
During their stay, the delegation will engage in key panel discussions and hold bilateral meetings with officials from various Russian ministries and executives from leading energy corporations. Talks will focus on cooperation in the extractive industries, oil and gas development, energy infrastructure, and capacity building to enhance Sierra Leone’s energy security and sustainability.
“The arrival of the delegation underscores a growing interest in deepening diplomatic and economic relations between Sierra Leone and the Russian Federation,” said a government representative.
“Engagements at international forums such as Russia Energy Week are vital for fostering partnerships, exchanging expertise, and attracting the investment needed to power Sierra Leone’s future.”
The delegation was warmly welcomed by His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Yongawo and the staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Moscow.
Russia Energy Week 2025, currently underway, is one of the world’s leading platforms for dialogue on global energy trends, market stability, and the transition toward sustainable and inclusive energy solutions.
