EDSA Commissions New 33 kV Line Kenema to Bo City

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has successfully commissioned a new 33 kV electricity line connecting Kenema and Bo City, marking a major milestone in improving the reliability and efficiency of power supply to one of Sierra Leone’s key urban centres.

The newly installed line replaces the aging 33 kV infrastructure that was originally erected in 1985. Over the years, the old line had become a persistent source of technical challenges, leading to frequent power interruptions in Bo City.

The deteriorating condition of the previous network affected service quality and disrupted the daily lives and business operations of electricity consumers.

Recognizing these challenges, EDSA embarked on a comprehensive project to construct and install a modern 33 kV transmission line designed to meet current energy demands and ensure long-term system stability.

Following several weeks of testing, the Authority reports that the new line has demonstrated consistent and reliable electricity delivery to Bo City and its surrounding communities.

“This project represents our continued commitment to providing a stable and efficient electricity supply to our customers,” said an EDSA spokesperson. “The commissioning of the Kenema–Bo 33 kV line will greatly enhance the quality of service and strengthen the energy network within the Southern Region.”

The successful completion of this project forms part of EDSA’s broader initiative to modernize Sierra Leone’s power infrastructure and improve access to sustainable energy. The Authority assures the public that additional projects are underway to further upgrade electricity distribution systems and reduce service disruptions across the country.

EDSA extends sincere appreciation to all consumers for their patience and continued support as the organization works to enhance the quality, reliability, and reach of electricity distribution nationwide.
