Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh commissioned a new, state-of-the-art police station in the Aberdeen community of Freetown on Friday, highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts to modernize the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and improve public safety.
Acting on behalf of President Julius Maada Bio, the Vice President officially opened the modern two-storey facility, which is designed to significantly upgrade policing infrastructure in one of the city’s busiest areas.
In his remarks, Dr. Jalloh underscored the administration’s commitment to enhancing the SLP. “We have made substantial progress in improving conditions of service for police officers,” he stated, noting that new training programs and additional facilities are currently in development.
He directly addressed the officers, urging them to “treat citizens with respect, serve with integrity, and remain committed to their role in protecting the nation.”
The Vice President also praised Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu, for driving the nationwide upgrades to police facilities. He further highlighted President Bio’s plans to improve police mobility and introduce an independent communication system for the force.
The newly built Aberdeen station features a clean design, improved accessibility, and upgraded amenities. It includes multiple air-conditioned offices, a sheltered public waiting area, and enhanced operational spaces intended to support effective policing and community engagement.
The facility has already been praised by residents and stakeholders as one of the finest police stations in the Western Urban Area, signaling a renewed focus on professionalism and community-oriented policing.
Today’s commissioning adds to a series of infrastructure improvements undertaken under IG Sellu’s leadership, marking a key step in strengthening law enforcement presence in the coastal Aberdeen community.
