Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Ministry of Information and Civic Education has announced an open call for film submissions as part of preparations for the Salone Civic Festival 2025, scheduled to take place from 11 to 13 December 2025 at the Miatta Conference Centre, Youyi Building in Freetown.
According to the announcement, the initiative aims to spotlight films that reflect Sierra Leone’s culture, identity, civic values, resilience, and creative spirit. Filmmakers are invited to submit short films that align with the festival’s civic-focused theme.
The guidelines specify that entries should be 15 to 20 minutes in length and submitted in either MP4 or MOV format. Films may be produced in English or in any local language, provided they include English subtitles. Eligibility is limited to productions made in Sierra Leone or by Sierra Leone based filmmakers.
Applicants are required to submit their film, a short synopsis, and the director’s biography via email to [email protected]. Submissions must include the subject line: “Salone Civic Movie Night Submission [Film Title]”. The deadline for entries is 11 December 2025.
Festival organizers state that the film segment is intended to celebrate the diversity of Sierra Leonean storytelling while promoting civic engagement through creative expression.
The Salone Civic Festival 2025 is expected to bring together artists, filmmakers, cultural practitioners, and the general public in a series of activities designed to foster national pride and community participation.
