Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Bai Bureh Warriors continued their impressive start to the Sierra Leone Premier League season with a narrow 1-0 victory over regional rivals Bullom Stars in the Northwest derby on Friday.
The win, secured at the Approved School Grounds in Wellington, lifts the Port Loko side to the top of the league standings.
Koliko Prospere Haba was the hero of the day, calmly converting from the penalty spot to separate the two sides in a tightly contested encounter. The result extends the Warriors’ unbeaten run to four matches, with three wins and one draw, putting them on 10 points—one ahead of Wilberforce Strikers and FC Kallon, both of whom have played a game fewer.
Bullom Stars, meanwhile, slip to ninth place and risk dropping further down the table depending on the outcome of the remaining Matchday Four fixtures.
Attention now turns to Sunday’s clash, where Kamboi Eagles face a stern challenge against Old Edwardians, the league’s best defensive side so far. The Kenema outfit remains firmly in the relegation zone, having lost all three matches this season without scoring a single goal.
