2023 Elections: ECSL Launches the Combating Disinformation Project

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) has launched the project on combating disinformation in Sierra Leone ahead of the June multi-tier elections.

The Chief Electoral Commissioner (CEC), Mohamed Kenewei Konneh officially launched the project which will greatly involve the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists and the NDI titled, ‘’Combating Disinformation in Sierra Leone’s 2023 Electoral Cycle’’.
The commissioner highlighted the dangers of disinformation and proffered collaborative solutions which SLAJ. The media stakeholders may use and explore to have an interactive process that will be free from all sorts of disinformation.

The commission also engaged in the right to access information commission workshop in Freetown where different EMBs and stakeholders were present.

Representing the CEC was the ECSL Commissioner west and oversight for media and communications, Zainab Umu Moseray. She delivered the keynote address on the theme, ‘’Access to Information, an essential tool for democratic elections’’.
