Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. A total of sixteen aspirants have so far emerged for the post of flag bearer of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC).
The 2018 and 2023 flag bearer of the APC party, Dr. Samura Kamara, appears to have been dumped by the party for promoting the ill-fated electoral justice campaign.
The internal feud in the APC continues to germinate like seeds. The party’s National Executive lacks the credibility to reconcile the many factions that have suddenly emerged within the party. The party’s ailing National Chairman, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, is on a prolonged medical leave abroad.
All the APC party needs now, is to put the 2023 election results behind them, and work as a formidable force to prepare and challenge the SLPP in 2028. There is a high likelihood that, the APC might pose a serious threat to the SLPP’s determination to win the Presidency for a third time in a row.
The APC can only be taken as a serious political party if they are able to come together and rally behind a popular North/western candidate to lead the party to crucial Presidential elections in 2028.
So far, the five most popular and serious aspirants that have emerged for the post of APC flag bearer are Dr. Ibrahim Bangura (DIB), Ady Macauley, Chernoh M. Bah (Chericoco), Joseph Kamara and Mohamed Omodu Kamara (Jagaban).
The flag bearer campaign within the APC party is gathering momentum. The four million-dollar question on the lips of many APC members and supporters now is: *who will lead the APC to crucial Presidential elections in 2028?*
