Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The newly appointed Regional Police Commander for Freetown-East, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Brima Kanneh, has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening police-community relations as a way of improving regional security.
AIG Kanneh made this commitment on Saturday during his first official interaction with members of the Harbour Division’s Local Policing Partnership Board(LPPB), Area Police Partnership Committee (APPC), and Community Safety Volunteers.
In his speech, the AIG thanked community stakeholders for their continuous support for the Sierra Leone Police.
He stressed the importance of professionalism, collaboration, and community involvement in fostering a secure and pleasant atmosphere.
He encouraged the Local Policing Partnership Board members to actively participate in the Commander’s meetings and invite him to local community events.According to him, regular involvement would help to develop the bond between the police and the communities they serve.
Also speaking at the gathering, the Harbour Division’s Local Unit Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Emmanuel Kpulun, urged all stakeholders to fully support AIG Kanneh. He explained the need of their cooperation in making Freetown-East one of Sierra Leone’s most tranquil regions.
Mr Melbourne Greene, Regional Secretary General of the LPPB Freetown-East, also urged members to remain engaged to local security measures. He emphasised that peace and safety are shared responsibilities.
The conference concluded with various chairpersons and delegates agreeing to collaborate closely with AIG Kanneh to achieve his vision of a safer and peaceful Freetown-East.
