Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Air Sierra Leone, the national flag carrier, has announced an increase in its flight operations to London Gatwick, responding to growing demand for direct connectivity between Sierra Leone and the UK.
As stated in their official announcement, starting from the week of August 11, 2025, the airline will operate two weekly flights on this route.
Passengers will have the option to depart from London on Monday and Friday evenings, with return flights from Freetown scheduled for Tuesday and Saturday mornings. This new schedule notably aims to provide travelers with greater flexibility and convenience.
Group Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Sukh Mann, stated, “We’ve designed this schedule to give passengers more flexibility and convenience when flying between these two important cities. The increased frequency reflects our commitment to this route and the growing demand for direct connectivity.”
He emphasized that with the direct flights, travelers can avoid the hassle of third-party countries, long layovers, and higher costs associated with extended journeys. The total travel time is now just six hours.
Onboard, passengers can expect Air Sierra Leone’s signature inflight service, featuring a selection of curated Sierra Leonean dishes alongside continental options.
The route is set to be serviced by the airline’s modern fleet, including the Boeing 737 MAX 8, in partnership with Ascend Airways.
Mr. Mann expressed confidence in the route’s growth potential, revealing plans for a third weekly service in the winter season. He also mentioned ongoing efforts to connect key West African cities to Freetown, which will provide regional passengers with seamless access to London. Further details on these new regional routes are expected to be announced soon.
General Manager, Mr. Edgard Lacle, added, “Seats on the additional services are now available for booking. We’re excited to welcome more travelers onboard and continue building our international network.”
Travelers are encouraged to book flights and purchase tickets through the airline’s website at www.flysierraleone.com, or visit the Head Office located at 21/23 Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown, or contact one of the authorized Sales Representatives.
