APC Dismisses Rumors of Power Handover to Kamara

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The All People’s Congress (APC) has strongly refuted claims circulating on social media suggesting that President Julius Maada Bio is preparing to hand over power to the party’s 2023 flagbearer, Dr. Samura Kamara.

In an interview with Liberty TV, APC National Publicity Secretary, Sidi Yaya Tunis, described the reports as baseless and misleading. He noted that during President Bio’s recent overseas trip, false information was widely shared online, alleging that the President had vacated his position and that Dr. Kamara was set to assume leadership.

“This is something that is not possible and will not happen,” Tunis stated, urging party supporters and the wider public to ignore such rumors. He stressed that the APC’s focus remains on the 2028 elections, not on unfounded speculation.

While affirming the party’s full support for Dr. Kamara, Tunis expressed disappointment that the former presidential candidate has not personally spoken out to discredit the rumors. He warned that the APC leadership will not allow misleading narratives to persist unchecked.

According to him, the misinformation is being spread by individuals both inside and outside the party, including some who are not even APC members. He added that the party will continue to engage with those responsible to ensure the public is not deceived, while keeping its attention firmly on preparing for 2028.
