APC Releases Revised Timeline for Elections and Conference

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The All People’s Congress (APC) has released a revised timeline for its internal elections, following the re-publication of the party’s Elections Rules by the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC).

The updated schedule, dated 6 January 2026, outlines the sequence of lower-level conventions and elections leading up to the party’s National Delegates’ Conference.

According to the National Secretariat of the APC, the revised timetable is in line with the provisions of the PPRC’s enabling Act of Parliament and is intended to guide the conduct of ward, constituency, district, regional, and affiliated group elections for the forthcoming electoral cycle.

The process officially commenced with the publication of the voter and membership register for ward elections on 5 January 2026. Ward elections are scheduled to take place on 27 January 2026, marking the first major electoral activity under the new framework.

Subsequently, the party will publish the list of delegates for constituency conventions on 6 February 2026, ahead of constituency conventions slated for 28 February 2026. These conventions will also include diaspora chapters and constituencies, reflecting the party’s effort to incorporate members outside the country into its internal democratic process.

At the district level, the publication of delegates’ lists is scheduled for 10 March 2026, followed by district conventions on 1 April 2026. These conventions will cover both domestic districts and diaspora districts or branches.

The timetable further provides for the publication of delegates’ lists for various party wings, groups, and bodies including the Local Council Group, Former Councillors, National Union of APC Students, Former Members of Parliament, and the Persons with Disability Wing on 20 March 2026. Elections for delegates from these groups are indicated to take place on 11 April, as stated in the document.

In addition, the publication of delegates’ lists for regional conventions, including those in the diaspora, is scheduled for 11 April 2026, paving the way for the final stages of the internal electoral process.

Party officials say the revised timeline is aimed at ensuring transparency, compliance with regulatory requirements, and orderly conduct of internal elections.

Observers note that the successful implementation of the schedule will be closely watched, given the importance of internal party democracy in shaping leadership and candidate selection ahead of national elections.

The APC has called on its members at all levels to adhere to the outlined dates and procedures as the party moves forward with its internal reorganization and preparations for the upcoming electoral cycle.
