Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Secretary General of the All People’s Congress (APC), Lansana Dumbuya, has publicly accused President Maada Bio of stealing the 2023 presidential election.
In a recent statement, Dumbuya expressed his party’s determination to prepare for the upcoming 2028 elections, stressing that they will not tolerate any electoral malpractice in the future.
Dumbuya asserted that the events surrounding the last election; before, during, and after, will not be repeated. “We will not take it anymore,” he declared, urging party members to select a suitable flagbearer who can lead the charge against any attempts at electoral fraud.
To ignite confidence in their members, Dumbuya mentioned two key committees: the Census Committee, led by former Minister Koroma, and the Tripartite Committee, led by Lawyer Sesay. He assured party supporters that those committees are working diligently to position the APC for a return to governance.
“We all know that Maada Bio stole the election; it is not a thing to keep secret,” Dumbuya claimed, reiterating his belief that the APC will emerge victorious in the 2028 elections. “No matter what they do, the APC will surely emerge victorious because we won in 2023,” he added.
Dumbuya also criticized the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), accusing them of attempting to distract the APC by promoting discussions about electoral justice on social media. He called on party members to advocate for the recommendations of the Tripartite Committee and to support the PR system to ensure fair elections.
Reflecting on a tragic incident involving the loss of an APC member at the party’s office, Dumbuya questioned the government’s lack of investigation into the matter. “Development partners, we have not heard from you. Why has there been no investigation into that particular incident?” he asked.
