Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Residents of Freetown are experiencing a temporary water supply shutdown today, July 23, 2025, following a technical issue with a main transmission pipe.

The Guma Valley Water Company announced the immediate disruption, citing urgent repair work on a burst 22-inch pipeline.

The affected pipe is located on the peninsular road near Sesay Drive, Hamilton. Repair efforts are scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM BST and are expected to last for at least six hours.

In a statement, the Guma Valley Water Company expressed its commitment to restoring service promptly.

“Our teams are working diligently to complete the repairs within this timeframe and restore service as quickly as possible,” the company stated, while also apologizing for any inconvenience caused to the public.

The company urges residents to bear with them as they work to restore water supply to Freetown as soon as possible.
