Chernor Bah Addresses Dubawa's 5G Fact-Check

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, during the Government’s weekly press briefing on Tuesday, 24 June, responded to claims made by Dubawa’s fact-checking platform on the new 5gG network in Sierra Leone.

According to Duyawa, the ministry made a false claim that Sierra Leone launched the first Standalone 5G network in West Africa.

Bah, in his submission, distinguished between two types of 5G infrastructure. He stated that there is one that builds on existing 4G networks, and the more advanced Stand-Alone 5G, which is built independently.

Bah continued that the Dubawa fact-checking platform confused the two different networks. He called on the platform to rectify its error.

He encouraged media and fact-checking organisations to verify such claims directly with the Ministry to ensure accuracy and credibility. He reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to factual, timely, and transparent information sharing.
