Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, today, 1St August 2025, received a courtesy visit from the newly elected executive of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ).
The visit was led by former President Ahmed Sahid Nasralla and the newly elected President, Alhaji Manika Kamara. The SLAJ team also used the occasion to introduce the new leadership.
During the engagement, SLAJ presents a position paper to Minister Bah to advocate for the inclusion of a dedicated Chapter 12 in the Constitution to guarantee press freedom, and to formally commend the Ministry for its efforts in advancing media freedom and civic participation.
Furthermore, the Association presented awards and commendations to the Honourable Minister, Chernor Bah, and the Ministry, in recognition of promoting a free and democratic society.
Minister Bah congratulated the incoming executive, thanked the outgoing leadership for their service, and reaffirmed the Ministry’s continued commitment to working with SLAJ and all media stakeholders to safeguard press freedom, uphold responsible journalism, and strengthen democratic governance in Sierra Leone.
