Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh presided over and served as the Guest of Honour during a graduation ceremony of senior military officers at the Horton Command and Staff College at Benguema, Western Rural District.
The event which took place on Friday, July 25 saw 43 senior military officers from the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) and other allied African countries achieved a great milestone in leadership and other strategic areas.
Representing the President, Chief Minister Sengeh congratulated the graduates for their resilience and commitment while stressing on the strategic importance of the course. He added that the course is in line with President Julius Maada Bio’s Agenda focusing on strengthening of security and ensuring regional cooperation. Sengeh further described the course as “a foundation for national service and regional leadership” for the officers.
The Chief Minister also expressed appreciation to the RSLAF for their commitment to national development and peace building efforts.
The Director of Studies at Horton, Colonel Mohamed Abu Bakar Swaray shared that the course was a modern one that exposed the officers to leadership foundations, service-specific operations and joint/multinational strategy with the goal of developing sound military leaders.
One of the graduating officers also described the course as a professional one that was rigorous.
The graduation is a reminder of the critical role Sierra Leone plays in military education not only locally but also regionally.
