Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), Mr. Sahr Yomba Senesi, has left Sierra Leone for Abuja, Nigeria, to represent Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. William Fayia Sellu at the Annual Police Focal Point Meeting scheduled for 6–7 August 2025.

The meeting, organized under the auspices of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), aims to develop a comprehensive Police Roster for Peace Support Operations (PSOs) across the region.

The initiative notably seeks to establish a structured, transparent, and competency-based system that aligns with regional standards and best practices while addressing the priorities of host countries.

One of the key objectives of the roster is to create a standardised pool of mission-ready, vetted, trained, and deployable police officers from all ECOWAS member states, that will facilitate a timely and coordinated response to emerging security challenges in the region.

The meeting also will focus on enhancing operational readiness within national police forces, positioning the police roster as a fundamental component of West Africa’s security architecture.

Senesi is expected to deliver a keynote address during the opening ceremony, further elevating the profile of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) on the international stage.

His participation is deemed as a reflection of the SLP’s growing capacity to support ECOWAS-led peace operations and underscores the importance of professionalism, interoperability, and solidarity among West African nations.

IGP Fayia Sellu, who is also the Chairman of the West African Police Chiefs Committee (WAPCCO), has pledged to revive the operations of relevant WAPCCO sub-committees to enhance regional policing standards and collaboration.
