Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), in partnership with Concern Worldwide through the Saving Lives Phase III project, is supporting ongoing community cooking demonstrations in collaboration with District Nutritionists of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation across Kenema and Kono districts.
These monthly sessions bring together District Health Management Team (DHMT) nutritionists, health facility staff, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and supportive husbands for interactive, practical engagement.
The demonstrations highlight the importance of using locally available ingredients to prepare nutritious meals that combat malnutrition among pregnant women and nursing mothers. By encouraging balanced diets, the initiative aims to improve maternal health, strengthen resilience against preventable diseases, and promote healthier child growth.Participants not only learn about nutrition but also gain hands-on experience in preparing meals they can replicate at the household level—helping to create lasting change in family health and wellbeing.
