Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, the Mayor of Freetown, has issued a call to all residents of the city, urging them to fulfill their civic responsibilities by promptly paying their property rates and business licenses.
She emphasized that active participation in these payments is crucial for driving the ongoing transformation efforts in Freetown and for fostering a sense of pride in the city.
Highlighting the significance of timely payments, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr emphasized that they are vital for ensuring the delivery of essential services to residents. She underscored that property rates and business licenses contribute significantly to Freetown City Council’s (FCC) own source revenue, constituting 60% of its total income.
Aki-Sawyerr disclosed that the distribution of demand notes for property rates and business licenses is currently underway across Freetown, urging residents to adhere to the payment deadlines.
