Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Government of Sierra Leone, in collaboration with Orange Foundation, through the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, on Saturday, July 5th 2025, officially commissioned the Early Childhood Development (ECD) school in Sarguehun, Perri Chiefdom, Pujehun District.

During the ceremony, the minister urged parents to safeguard the facility and prioritize their children’s education.

Sekou Amadou Bah, CEO of Orange Sierra Leone, announced that the Sarguehun school is the sixth constructed by the Orange Foundation nationwide. This initiative aligns with the company’s commitment to supporting education and complementing President Bio’s Free Quality Education agenda.

The newly built pre-school features three classrooms, accommodating 26 pupils per class, along with a playground and child-friendly bathroom facilities. Additionally, the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) has supplied the school with essential teaching and learning materials.

Key stakeholders, including Paramount Chief Musa Kpaka Masally, pledged to ensure the school’s security and proper utilization by the community.

In 2023, His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio turned the sod for the construction of this Early Childhood Development (ECD) school in Sarguehun, Perri Chiefdom, Pujehun District. The project was a collaboration between the Government of Sierra Leone and the Orange Foundation, supporting the Free Quality Education Program to benefit early learners in the chiefdom.
