Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Guma Valley Water Company has announced a temporary disruption in water supply affecting several parts of Freetown due to a technical fault on a major transmission line.
In a public notice issued by the management of Guma Valley Water Company, the utility informed customers and the general public that areas in the eastern, central and western parts of the city will experience low water pressure or no water supply.
According to the company, the affected eastern areas are between East End Police and Wellington, while central areas include locations between Congo Cross and East End Police. Some western parts of the city, including Wilkinson Road and its environs, Aberdeen and Murray Town, are also impacted.
Guma Valley Water Company stated that the disruption is the result of a faulty valve on a 28-inch transmission pipeline at the Spur Road Reservoir. The company confirmed that maintenance work has already commenced to address the problem.
The utility further announced that the repair works are expected to be completed by Friday, 26 December 2025, after which normal water supply is expected to be restored within the stated time frame.
In the notice, the management of Guma Valley Water Company apologized to customers and the general public for any inconvenience caused by the disruption. The company assured consumers that every effort is being made to restore water supply as quickly as possible.
The service disruption notice was issued by the management of Guma Valley Water Company from its headquarters at Guma Building, 1214 Lamina Sankoh Street, Freetown, and is dated 25 December 2025.
