Hawa Conteh Urges Government Action in Koinadugu

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Hon. Hawa Conteh, Member of Parliament for Koinadugu District under the opposition All People’s Congress (APC), has applauded local health workers for their dedication and service to communities in the district, particularly in recent cases involving pregnant women facing transportation difficulties.

Her commendation follows an incident in which a pregnant woman was transported to a health facility using a “harmoc,” a traditional makeshift stretcher, due to the lack of accessible roads.

“Your commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of both mothers and their children, despite the challenges posed by inadequate infrastructure, is truly commendable.” Hon. Conteh stated.

Koinadugu District remains one of the areas with some of the country’s most poorly maintained road networks, a situation that poses serious challenges for pregnant women and other vulnerable groups seeking timely access to healthcare.

Hon. Conteh said the incident highlights the urgent need for improved infrastructure, noting that such conditions threaten the lives of expectant mothers and place additional strain on health workers.

Furthermore, her recognition of medical staff and community efforts, she emphasized, reflects her continued commitment to advocating for the welfare of her constituents.

”I call on the government of President Bio to intervene and assist my people because they are suffering,” she stated.
