Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Finnish Veikkausliiga club FC Inter Turku has announced the signing of Sierra Leone international striker Alie Conteh on a one-year loan deal from Norwegian club Strømsgodset, with an option to make the transfer permanent.
The 21-year-old attacker has been handed the prestigious number 10 jersey, historically worn by creative playmakers at the club and symbolizing leadership on the pitch.
Born in Freetown on October 29, 2004, Conteh began his career with Goderich before impressing on loan at Kallon during the 2022-23 season, where he scored an remarkable 20 goals in just 19 league appearances. His prolific form attracted interest from European clubs, including Italian side Udinese and Norwegian clubs Molde FK and Stabæk IF.
Conteh moved to Norwegian football in 2024, joining Mjøndalen IF on loan. He made an immediate impact by scoring a hat-trick against newly relegated Vålerenga. Over one-and-a-half seasons with Mjøndalen, he netted 12 goals in 41 appearances across the league and playoffs.
In summer 2025, he transferred to Strømsgodset in Norway’s top-flight Eliteserien, making 16 appearances and scoring two goals in the latter half of the year.
Despite his young age, Conteh has already earned eight caps for the Sierra Leone senior national team, scoring two goals. He was part of the squad for Sierra Leone’s recent World Cup qualifying matches against Burkina Faso and Djibouti last autumn.
FC Inter’s head of player scouting, Viki Savonen, described what the club expects from their new striker.
“Alie brings a fresh option to our attack and enhances our presence inside the penalty area. His style of play contains a good measure of unpredictability, and he can pose a threat in diverse ways,” Savonen said.
“He is not the tallest player, but he is physically very strong and good in the air. In Norway, he has played fairly purely as a target striker in two clubs, but I believe we can utilize his qualities more diversely and get even more out of him,” he added.
Conteh arrives at a club enjoying a strong period. Inter Turku finished second in the Veikkausliiga in 2025, securing qualification for the UEFA Europa Conference League. The club also won the Finnish League Cup and has reached the semi-finals of the Finnish FA Cup.
Strømsgodset’s sporting director Jackie Rasmussen confirmed the move, noting that while Conteh worked well in pre-season, competition for places in the squad was strong, making the loan a good solution for the player’s development. Conteh remains under contract with Strømsgodset until summer 2029.
