Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Ireland’s Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Aidan Fitzpatrick, has ended his diplomatic mission after two years of service with a farewell visit to President Julius Maada Bio at State House.
The visit marked the end of a period of steady cooperation between the two countries. Ambassador Fitzpatrick thanked the President for the partnership and congratulated him on his recent election as Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States.
During the meeting, Ambassador Fitzpatrick looked back on his time in Sierra Leone. He spoke about the progress made in areas such as support for women and the country’s growing international profile. He also shared his appreciation for the warm welcome and kindness he received from the people of Sierra Leone.
He mentioned that Ireland is exploring ways to increase investment in Sierra Leone. This step reflects the growing relationship between the two nations.
As he said goodbye, the Government of Sierra Leone thanked him for his work and the part he played in strengthening the bond between Ireland and Sierra Leone.
President Bio also expressed appreciation for the Ambassador’s support and presence throughout his time in the country. He noted that Sierra Leone has opened an embassy in Ireland, showing the continued friendship between both sides.
Ambassador Fitzpatrick’s visit marked the closing of a chapter filled with collaboration and mutual respect. Both countries now look ahead to continued growth in their partnership.
