The Leone Stars took the lead in the 37th minute when midfielder Ibrahim Kamarra scored with a powerful volley from inside the box. The home team went into halftime with a 1-0 advantage after a first half that saw both sides struggle to create clear-cut opportunities.
After the break, the tempo of the match picked up as Ethiopia pushed for an equalizer. Despite their best efforts, they were repeatedly thwarted by a resilient Sierra Leone defense.
The hosts had several opportunities to extend their lead, including a free-kick in the 75th minute that hit the post.
With the score still 1-0 and time winding down, Sierra Leone sealed the victory in the 96th minute.
A counterattack initiated by a cleared corner kick saw Komora sprint down the field and score into an open net, as the Ethiopian goalkeeper was caught out of position.
The final whistle blew shortly after, confirming the 2-0 result.
