Leone Stars Start Early Prep for World Cup Qualifiers

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Leone Stars Head Coach Mohamed Kallon has initiated early preparations for the final round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, bringing together a mix of home-based players and a select few foreign-based stars who are currently on their off-season break.

The training sessions, being held in Freetown, are primarily focused on enhancing fitness, technical skills, and tactical sharpness. This proactive approach aims to build team cohesion and ensure readiness for Sierra Leone’s upcoming qualifier matches.

The Leone Stars are scheduled to face Guinea Bissau and Ethiopia in September, followed by fixtures against Burkina Faso and Djibouti in October.

Adding to the positive atmosphere in the camp, Christian Dauda, the Sierra Leone National Teams Ambassador, who is based in England, is currently in Freetown to observe the training sessions firsthand. Ambassador Dauda continues to play a significant role in supporting and promoting the national team both domestically and internationally.

Sierra Leone currently holds third place in Group A of the qualifiers with 8 points, trailing behind Egypt and Burkina Faso. Every point from the upcoming matches will be crucial as the Leone Stars push for a historic qualification to the FIFA World Cup.
