Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Inspector General of Police of Liberia, Hon. Gregory O. W. Coleman, is scheduled to visit Sierra Leone from November 17 to 21, 2025, in a move aimed at strengthening security cooperation between the two nations.

During the visit, Hon. Coleman will be formally received by Sierra Leone’s Inspector General of Police, Mr. William Fayia Sellu, along with other members of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) leadership. The engagement highlights growing collaboration between the Sierra Leone Police and the Liberia National Police (LNP) in intelligence sharing, cross-border operations, and regional crime prevention.

Senior police sources say discussions will focus on joint law enforcement operations, enhanced regional coordination, and promoting peace and stability across the Mano River Union (MRU) region, which includes Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, and Côte d’Ivoire.

The visit is expected to include high-level meetings, strategic dialogues, and courtesy calls on key security and government institutions in Freetown, aiming to build sustainable mechanisms for information exchange and coordinated policing in West Africa.

In recent years, both nations have intensified efforts to combat transnational crimes, including drug and human trafficking, illegal mining, smuggling, and cybercrime, recognizing the need for a unified regional approach.

A senior Sierra Leone Police spokesperson described the visit as “a timely step towards consolidating peace, trust, and operational collaboration among the security agencies of both countries. This engagement will not only strengthen institutional bonds but also reaffirm our shared commitment to the safety and stability of the Mano River Union region.”

The Sierra Leone Police has assured the public that updates on the visit, key deliberations, and outcomes will be shared throughout the week.

This high-level exchange marks another milestone in regional policing diplomacy, reinforcing both nations’ dedication to collective security and cross-border cooperation for a safer West Africa.
