Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Sierra Leone owe the National Revenue Authority (NRA) over 400 billion Leones in unpaid taxes.
The Ministry of Finance has now held the NRA leadership accountable for the widespread tax non-compliance among government entities.
Ibrahim Sorie Kamara, Senior Adviser to the NRA Commissioner-General, disclosed that as of April 2025, MDAs have failed to remit taxes, including general tax, withholding tax, and Pay As You Earn (PAYE) for employees.
Kamara warned that the NRA will continue enforcement actions, including sealing off premises of defaulting institutions, until payments are made.
The Ministry of Finance is also seeking government intervention to help MDAs settle their outstanding tax debts.
