Minister of Social Welfare, Mrs. Melrose Karminty, on Wednesday, 21s May, 2025, visited the Hajj Secretariat to personally engage with citizens preparing for this year’s pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Mecca. Her visit underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and well-supported Hajj experience for its citizens.

During the engagement, Minister Karminty took the opportunity to directly hear from the prospective pilgrims regarding their level of preparedness for the spiritual journey. This direct interaction provided a firsthand understanding of any concerns or readiness aspects that might require further attention.

Furthermore, the Minister extended heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated staff at the Hajj Secretariat, including the vital medical personnel. She commended their tireless efforts in supporting the intricate logistical and administrative processes involved in organizing the Hajj. She also acknowledged their hard work as instrumental in facilitating a seamless experience for all pilgrims.

She further emphasized that the government, through the Hajj Secretariat and the Ministry of Social Welfare Government of Sierra Leone, remains committed to providing all necessary support to ensure a successful and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage for every individual.

This year, a significant contingent of 2,000 Sierra Leonean pilgrims are set to embark on the sacred journey of Hajj, departing from the shores of Sierra Leone for the Holy Land of Mecca.
