Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Ministry of Information and Civic Education has announced that it will hold a public briefing on Tuesday, 26th August 2025, to update citizens on the newly signed land lease agreements for the Kasafoni Iron Ore deposits.

Sheku Fantamadi Bangura, Minister of Finance, will lead the session, which will be moderated by Bocakarie Abdel-Aziz Bawoh, Deputy Minister of Information and Civic Education.

This comes after a high-level government expedition to Diang, Sambaia, and Dansogoia Chiefdoms from August 21 to 23, during which lease agreements were signed by the state-owned Sierra Leone Mines and Mineral Development and Management Corporation with landowners in the concession regions.

The engagements held were part of the government’s plans to promote inclusive participation and involvement of stakeholders in the mining sector. The Kasafoni Iron Ore Deposits are regarded as an important national asset.

According to officials, the next press briefing will lay out the government’s strategy for responsible resource development, expanded state participation, and enhanced community benefits. During the event, further information about the agreements and long-term plans for the concession zones will be revealed.
