Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MOICE) has issued a clarification regarding a recent statement attributed to the Resident Minister of the Eastern Region, Hon. Jusu Jaka Ngobeh, in an article titled “High-Level Government Delegation Visits Koindu, Kissi Teng Chiefdom, To Address Yenga Dispute.”
According to the Ministry, Hon. Ngobeh’s remarks referred specifically to the Yenga area—not the town itself—which has remained under Guinean occupation for over two decades.
MOICE highlighted that the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces have recently undertaken strategic deployments in Sokoma and Pengu Bendu, areas situated roughly 200 metres from Yenga. These actions are aimed at safeguarding Sierra Leonean citizens in the region and reinforcing national sovereignty. The current military positioning nearly surrounds the Guinean-held area, while the government continues to pursue a diplomatic resolution to the longstanding territorial dispute.
The Ministry also confirmed that it was represented in the recent high-level delegation to Koindu by its National Outreach Coordinator, Abubakarr Joe Sesay, who collected first-hand information on the ground.
MOICE reassured the public of its commitment to providing accurate and timely updates on national matters, particularly those relating to security and sovereignty.
