MMTU Welcomes Deputy Vice Chancellor From Hajj

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Staff, University Court, MMTU Muslim Jamaat and students of the Milton Margai Technical University, received the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Director of Academic Affairs from Hajj, in a well-attended and colourful ceremony at the Great Hall, Goderich Campus.

The ceremony was organised to celebrate Alhali Dr. Mohamed Ali Jalloh, for accomplishing such fulfilled life as a Muslim and to also accord him special recognition for his indelible contribution towards the success of the institution.

With words of praise to Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala, “The most glorified, the highest”, from the Muslim Jamaat at the university mosque, he was walked to the Great Hall after the Friday Jummah prayer for the official ceremony.

It was a moment of, glow, and glamour and jubilation by his family, friends, colleagues, students, and well-wishers, for such a great accomplishment.

Hajj, the pilgrimage to Macca, is the fifth pillar and the most significant demonstration of Islamic faith and unity in the world. For those Muslims who are physically and financially able to make the journey to Macca, the Hajj is a once-in-a-lifetime duty that is the peak of their religious lives.

Seeing therefore, Alhaji Jalloh reaching such a pinnacle in his life, brought tremendous joy to all.Philosopher King, as he is fondly called by alumni of the institution, students, and colleagues, he is an unassuming character and diligent, when it comes to his work.

Since he was enrolled at the institution as a student in 1971, and even currently, as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Director of Academic Affairs, Alhaji Dr. Mohamed Ali Jalloh has served the university cautiously and to the best of his ability.

In his statement, Alhaji Jalloh thanked Allah for such an opportunity, and also the university, especially the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Philip John Kanu (Ph.D.) for the unwavering support accorded him over the years, adding that, being alive to witness the transformation of Milton Margai into a Technical University was one of the greatest elations in his life.

He shared the blessings of Hajj, by praying for his family, for the institution to do more and for well-wishers present, and wished everyone the best of luck.

Present at the ceremony were, the Chancellor of the University, Dr. Victor Ekundayo Alexandra Kabia, staff, and other dignitaries who turned up to grace the occasion.
