Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Mogbwemo Queens, the double champions of the Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League, have once again written their name in this time as winners of the 2025 SLFA Women’s Unity Cup after edging out defending league champions Ram Kamara FC in a pulsating final at the Southern Arena in Bo.
The Queens wasted no time in dominating, taking an early lead in just the 3rd minute through star forward Fatmata Turay. But Ram Kamara FC, showing the resilience that made them last season’s champions, clawed their way back into the game when Salamatu Kamara pounced on a rebound to level the score in the 67th minute.
With the scores locked at 1–1 after regulation time, the clash of queens went down to the wire in a tense penalty shootout that had the entire stadium on edge. Mogbwemo Queens held their nerves to triumph 7–6, sparking wild celebrations from players and fans alike.
The grand finale was graced by an impressive lineup of football dignitaries led by SLFA President Babadi Kamara, Vice Presidents Alie Badara Tarawallie and Prince Kai Saquee, Southern Region Chairman Joseph Benedict Mogba, Northwest Chairman Abdul Osman Turay, Executive Member Mohamed Sorie Jalloh, Northeast Region Chairman Brima Jalloh, and Women’s Premier League Board Chairperson Hon. Rachel Mariatu Pessima.
This is the maiden edition of the Unity Cup and thousands of fans thronged the Southern stadium, turning Bo into a carnival of colour, music, and football passion. The SLFA Women’s Unity Cup traditionally signals the start of the new women’s football season, with the 2025/26 Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League officially set to kick off on November 15.
Once again, the Mogbwemo Queens have shown that they remain a force to reckon with in Sierra Leonean women’s football, a blend of discipline, talent, and championship spirit.
