Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) has issued a strong public warning over fraudulent claims of an ongoing trader registration exercise, distancing itself from individuals allegedly collecting money under the guise of representing the Commission.
In a press release dated 17th April 2026 in Freetown, NaCSA disclosed that it had received reports of unscrupulous individuals falsely claiming to be conducting trader registration on its behalf. The Commission categorically stated that no such registration process is currently underway.
NaCSA emphasized that it has not authorized any individual, group, or agent to carry out trader registration or similar activities. It assured the public that whenever a legitimate registration exercise is initiated, it will be formally communicated through its official channels.
The Commission further clarified its longstanding policy that all its programmes, including registration exercises, are conducted free of charge. It stressed that no staff member, representative, or affiliate has ever been permitted to collect money from beneficiaries or prospective applicants.
Raising concern over the potential exploitation of vulnerable groups, NaCSA urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with individuals demanding payment for such services. It called on citizens to report any suspected fraudulent activity or corrupt practices to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), particularly through its toll-free line 8515 or via community monitors and officials.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, NaCSA maintained that it will not tolerate any attempt to misuse its name for personal gain, especially in ways that undermine public trust and social protection efforts.
