NRA and SLPHA Senior Officials Conduct Joint Visit to Queen Elizabeth II Quay

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Senior officials from the National Revenue Authority (NRA) and the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) visited the Queen Elizabeth II Quay on Thursday in a joint effort to improve port operations.

The Commissioner of Customs, Tennyson Bio, led the inspection alongside Assistant Commissioners Leonard Tucker (Operations), Felix Jusu (Anti-Smuggling), and John B. Amara (Border Controls and Management). The team was joined by the Director General of the SLPHA, Yankuba Askia Bio.

The visit covered key areas including the main cargo terminal, export zone, scanning section, and physical examination area. During the tour, the officials spoke with customs brokers, truck drivers, customs officers, and security staff to get a clear picture of the current challenges.

Some of the issues raised involved delays in cargo handling and processing. The team noted these and held quick discussions on how to fix them. The goal, they said, is to make the system faster and easier for everyone involved.

“This kind of visit helps us know what is really going on at the ground level,” said Commissioner Bio during the tour.

Officials say they plan to keep doing regular visits like this and will work closely with all port users to find better ways to move goods in and out of the country.
