Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has rolled out a pilot phase for the automated issuance of Tax Clearance Certificates through its ITAS platform.
From October 1st to December 31st, 2025, compliant taxpayers will receive their certificates automatically in PDF format via email and through a printable portal version.
According to a public notice released by the NRA’s Public Affairs & Tax Education Unit, the new system came into effect on 1st October 2025 and will be piloted until 31st December 2025. It will apply specifically to taxpayers registered under the Large Tax Office (LTO) and the Extractive Industry Revenue Unit (EIRU) of the Domestic Tax Department.
With this new process, taxpayers are no longer required to submit physical application letters to the Commissioner General. Instead, all applications must now be submitted online via the taxpayer’s ITAS Portal. Once a taxpayer is deemed fully compliant, the system will automatically generate a Tax Clearance Certificate.
To be considered compliant, a taxpayer must have filed all outstanding returns, settled all tax liabilities, or made acceptable payment arrangements with the Commissioner General.
