Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Brenthurst Foundation is calling for an end to political witch-hunt in Sierra Leone, and expresses confidence in former president Koroma, after police decision to place the former president under house arrest, with limited access to visitors.
According to the head of Sierra Leone Police, the former President has been declared a suspect in the alleged attempted coup attempt, which the government says took place on 26 November 2023.

Born in 2004, the Brenthurst Foundation was established by the Oppenheimer family to build on the work of the Brenthurst Initiative of 2003. This was a programme that instigated debate around policy strategies in South Africa to accelerate economic expansion. This Brenthurst Foundation statement comes, as the Unites States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, applauds the Millenium Challenge Corporation’s decison not to grant $450 million to the Bio-led government of Sierra Leone, but instead call on the Sierra Leone government to commit itself and genuinely work towards building confidence in Sierra Leone’s broken democratic institutions.
