Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Bollore Transport and Logistics company working at Queen Elizabeth Quay on Wednesday 22 March 2023, donated food items and no food items to some communities and organizations worth millions of Leones.

According to the report, the donated items include 212 bags of Sugar of 25kg; 309 bags of 50kg rice of; 189 bags of onions of 50kg; 155 gallons of oil of 20 liters each; 87 cartoons of Maggie and 122 cartoons of Tomato Paste, totaling NLe585,047.88.

In handing over the items to the beneficiaries, Gassimu S. Fofanah, Bollore’s Head of Communications said the donations aimed to support communities and organizations hosting the company’s operations to help support Muslims observing the holy month of Ramadan.He also stated this is now an annual event as Bollore makes sure that at the start of the Ramadan season, they help vulnerable groups and organizations with food items that will help them during the month of fasting.

Hon. Alieu Ibrahim Koyon Kamara of Constituency 122 explained that Bollore has been very instrumental to his constituency and its environs since they started operations in Sierra Leone.

He continued that Bollore has been making similar food donations, and scholarships; when the country was experiencing Covid, they gave donations and also supported the people in Constituencies 121 and 122.

Sheik Mohamed A. Bangura of the Seaside Jamaat said that since Bollore started operations in Sierra Leone, they have been looking forward to Bollore’s Ramadan support as it has always come in handy for Muslims during the month of fasting.

He stated that they will continue to pray for Bollore and their staff, and hope that their operations will continue to be viable in the country and perform at the highest level.

He also thanked the company and said they will always look forward to them during the month of Ramadan; as the communities are now waiting to receive what they can have to start the fast.

General Manager of Freetown Terminal Bollore, Nicolas Escalin said the company will continue to do its Corporate Social Responsibility in the area of operations and since he took over, they have not relented but continue to support the communities.

The Communities and organizations that benefited from the donations are Moa Wharf, Seaside Communities, Constituencies 121 and 122, Wards 423 and 424, Sierra Leone Ports Authority (SLPA), Minister of Transport and Aviation, and Sierra Leone Dock Workers Union.
