Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Public Relations Team of Rokel Commercial Bank Sierra Leone Limited (RCBank) has concluded a provincial media tour aimed at promoting digital banking, educating customers, and advancing financial inclusion across its operational areas.
Led by the Head of Public Relations, Aruna Dumbuya, the delegation included Supervisors Ann-Marie Ngegbai-Jalloh and Ekundayo Martyn, who engaged with several media houses across the bank’s operational areas.
The engagements were held with prominent radio stations including Radio Mankneh in Makeni, Eastern Radio in Kono, Modcar FM 94.8, Heart FM 95.9 in Moyamba, Starline Radio in Kenema, All Out Radio in Bo, and Wanjay Radio in Pujehun.
The outreach aimed to inform and educate the public on RCBank’s expanding suite of products and services, with a particular focus on the Rokel Korpor and the newly enhanced Rokel SimKorpor platform. The team emphasized the convenience and efficiency of these digital platforms, encouraging customers to embrace them for seamless financial transactions.
As part of its commitment to supporting the Government of Sierra Leone’s drive towards a cashless society, the Bank also highlighted its partnerships with organizations such as SALWACO, VULT, and UNCDF, all geared toward improving service delivery and expanding financial access, especially in rural communities.
Key Highlights from the Engagements:
Rokel SimKorpor and National Payment Systems
Customers were urged to use the enhanced Rokel SimKorpor platform to access the Salone Payment Switch (SAPS) Sierra Leone’s national payment system that enables instant and secure transfers between bank accounts and mobile wallets. The system facilitates:
Real-time, instant transfers
Interoperability between banks and mobile money
Enhanced transaction security
Greater financial inclusion, especially for rural users
All transactions routed through the National Switch for efficiency and oversight
The team also spotlighted RCBank’s partnership with Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO), which aims to make the payment of water bills more convenient through digital channels. Branded under the theme “Paying for Clean, Safe, and Affordable Water Just Got Easier,” this collaboration promotes transparency, convenience, and accessibility by allowing customers to pay via the bank’s mobile and online platforms.
RCBank also reaffirmed its support for the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS) a groundbreaking initiative that enables instant, cross-border transfers within Africa. Customers can access PAPSS through RCBank’s mobile app or online banking, allowing them to transfer funds across the continent without the traditional delays and high fees.
This media engagement campaign is part of Rokel Commercial Bank’s broader mission to deepen financial literacy, increase customer access to modern banking tools, and support national and continental digital finance strategies. The bank promises to continue engaging the public as it rolls out the next phases of this initiative.
