The Guinean government, with its extensive geological knowledge, is fully aware of this and is acting with calculated aggression. They are building military installations, deploying troops, and systematically intimidating and displacing our local citizens. From their perspective, it is an opportunity to expand Guinea’s territorial reach from Yenga to Kambia.
In this context, our political and diplomatic engagements must be fierce, coordinated, and unyielding with a sense of urgency. When a nation is under threat, the state can not afford to be distracted.
Let Yenga be the site where we prove that African nations can resolve disputes without force, and borders can be bridges, not barriers or battlefields.
A definitive resolution of the Yenga occupation will solidify the border between Sierra Leone and Guinea and serve as a positive example of peaceful conflict resolution, fostering greater stability and cooperation in the spirit of African solidarity.
But make no mistake: Yenga is, and must remain, part of Sierra Leone.
