Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Inspector General of Sierra Leone Police, William Fayia Sellu, has said that fourteen people have been arrested in connection to an alleged plot aimed at destabilizing the country.

The suspects include eight middle-level officers, six Non-Commissioned officers, two Police officers, one retired Police superintendent & two civilians.

He mentioned during a press conference on Tuesday that security authorities are pursuing several other suspects who are still at large.According to Sellu, out of the detained suspects, eight are mid-ranking military officers whose ranks vary from Lieutenant to Major, along with six non-commissioned officers. Two of the arrested are serving members of the Sierra Leone Police – one sub-inspector and a constable.

Sellu disclosed that a manhunt was in progress for a few more suspects, comprising five military officers, two of whom are middle-ranking, along with three non-commissioned officers. Three police officers, including a sub-inspector, are also being sought.

Police first announced the investigation into the alleged plot in a statement released last week, without mentioning specific arrest numbers or identities.
