Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu is set to host his counterparts from Liberia and The Gambia in Freetown for a three-day security engagement aimed at strengthening cross-border cooperation in West Africa.
Gregory Coleman of the Liberia National Police and Seedy Touray of The Gambia Police Force are expected to arrive on November 17 as part of ongoing efforts to bolster joint operations, intelligence sharing and the fight against organised crime in the sub-region.
“The visit by the Liberian and Gambian Police Chiefs is expected to deepen existing security ties, enhance intelligence and solidify collaborative efforts,” the Sierra Leone Police said in a statement.
Sellu, who also serves as Chairman of the West Africa Police Chiefs Committee (WAPCCO), will lead the discussions during the high-level visit.
Security analysts have welcomed the meeting, noting increasing concerns over the movement of drugs and narcotics across regional borders. Recent months have recorded a rise in cross-border seizures of Kush and cannabis along the Sierra Leone–Liberia frontier, heightening calls for stronger collaborative policing.
