Sierra Leone Police Launches Operation ‘Calm Nation’

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Sierra Leone Police under the Astute leadership of IGP William Fayia Sellu, in it bid to nip violence and lawlessness in the bud will soon (today Sunday 7 August 2022) launch an operation, “Calm Nation” with it modus operandi, deploying personnel across all major streets and roads in the country to forestall the plan demonstration by some citizens across the country.

According to the Police Chief, they have not receive any written request for a demonstration as enshrined in Section 17(1) of the Public Order Act and as such any attempt by anyone, groups or organisations to stage a protest or demonstration is a crime and would be met with the full force of the law.

“Since it has been widely rumored and gone viral on social media, we won’t wait for them to come out and we go after them, we would have to go first in the streets and when or if they come out, they will meet us there”, said the Police adding that proactive policing is going to be implemented to the fullest.Meanwhile strategic commanders have been posted to various destinations as their Area Of Responsibilities (AOR) for the operation. The public is hereby assured of their freedom and safety and to go about their normal businesses as the law enforcement agencies especially the police are on top of situation.
